This is going to be a long one…sorry!
Juliet is 12 days old already, where has the time gone?
She’s a delightful little girl. Seriously the most smiley little baby I’ve ever met. I know they’re gas/sleepy smiles, but I like to pretend that she’s smiling for me…just like I did with Amelia.
Miss Juliet is an incredible eater. She left the hospital at 6lbs 4 oz and she passed her birth weight at only 4 days old weighing in at 6lbs 12oz. We weighed her at a week and she was already 7lbs 5oz. We might just have a little chunk on our hands after all!
She’s gotten so big and so strong already, but she’s still just as sweet and snuggly as the day I had her. Here’s my little smiley girl.
Yep, I’m sure it’s hard to believe, but I changed our Wordpress theme after a zillion years with the old one. Yay! The old one was boring, too mature and too dark. Since we have two girls now I though I’d throw some extra girly out in the world in the form of our blog.
Enjoy!
I haven’t done one of these in a while, but I just had to share this one….
Amelia was laying in bed with me last night and lifted my shirt to look at my belly. She got used to doing it each night while I was pregnant to feel the baby so it’s not unusual. Here’s how our conversation went…
Amelia said to me “Mommy, what are those?”(pointing at my belly)
I responded “Those are stretch marks.”
And Amelia proclaimed “I don’t want those on you!”
To which I responded “I don’t want them either!”
Silly girl gave me all of my lovely tummy stretch marks (ok, poison ivy swelling at 32 weeks did) and there’s nothing I can do about them other than pray that I never get more. Thankfully I didn’t get ANY with Juliet, yay!
Maybe some day there will be a magic eraser for them.
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
Yep, I’m going all cliche and quoting Romeo and Juliet…because I’m her mommy and I can!
We’ve been asked a zillion times how we came up with her names and well, I thought it would be nice to share.
I did a mini newborn session with Juliet on Thursday and wanted to share a few images from it. We’re hoping to do another at some point this week and include Amelia. Juliet was the EASIEST newborn I’ve ever photographed. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d say that about my own child, but it’s true. Let’s hope that she’s just as easy for round 2.
I have finally finished a few of the outstanding details in Amelia’s room and took pictures of the transformation.
Here are the before pictures…just after cleaning out the room. Yep, nice boring shade of builder beige like the rest of the house.
And here are the after pictures. Amelia told us she wanted purple and that’s what she got!
It’s so weird to say it, but we have girls…two of them! Dustin has always hoped to have two little girls and while I always hoped and prayed that I would be blessed with one, I have to admit that having two is like the greatest ice cream sundae with lots of whipped cream and cherries on top.
My girls have a sister and that is an awesome thing. Amelia just adores her little sister and I think Juliet already knows that Amelia is the best big sister in the world. We spent lots of time letting Amelia feel Juliet kick and wiggle in my belly and flurberting (blowing raspberries) my tummy to wake her up and I think that time together forged a bond that will grow and grow in time.
I am so thankful and so very happy. Here are a few pictures of our girls…
Juliet had her first bath today. She had one in the hospital, but this was her first mommy/daddy given bath. She fussed a little when she was cold, but for the most part she really enjoyed it. She especially liked being bundled at the end and getting a head massage while I dried her hair. We’re looking forward to her cord falling off so we can give her a nice long bath.
