I am a giant freaking dork.

I am in the midst of packing, the baby is in bed and Dustin is off helping a friend tonight.  I am trying to multitask so I’m searching for the perfect outfit for Amelia to wear to her Aunt Lindsey’s Engagement Party next week, calling around to stores to find a gift I’m searching for and packing/cleaning/organizing and throwing out food that expired 6 years ago, yes, 6 years ago.

I am just banging stuff around in the kitchen; dancing and singing

“baby your all that I want, when you’re lying here in my arms I’m finding it hard to believe we’re in heaven”

when I suddenly hear a man’s voice, it’s not Dustin…who is this man talking to me?  I snap back to reality and realize that I was still on hold with the store I was calling.  It had just been so long since I had been placed on hold that I had completely forgotten I had my cell on speakerphone.

I sure do hope he likes Bryan Adams.

At least he couldn’t see me dancing.

So, I’m a bit behind on blogging.  As you all know we’ve sold the house and have to be out in less than 2 weeks, eek!  We’re sorting things out, but I thought I’d pop on here and write a little something about my hubby.

Every year on our anniversary Dustin and I neglect to get cards for each other.  We always want to, we always plan to, but we always buy them a few days late.  It’s kind of a running joke now because we’d die from shock if we actually got an anniversary card from each other on our actual anniversary.

I filled Dustin’s card out just after our anniversary and left it in the drawer where he leaves his keys each night.  He wouldn’t open it because he hadn’t signed my cards and left them for me yet.  I reminded him of it a few days ago because it was still sitting there unopened.

Well, he finally signed them (yes, he always gets two for me) and I found them while cleaning out a drawer this morning.  They’re my 5 year anniversary cards and I got them this morning, 6 months and 2 days after our 5th anniversary.

I’m glad they came now, that they came late.  Somehow they just mean more to me when they come on a different day than our anniversary.  Somehow he knew the right time to give them, when I needed an extra boost of confidence and just a little more love.

If you don’t know this already, I love my husband.  I love him more than words can say, more than the number of hugs or kisses I could give him.  I love him now more than I loved him yesterday and will love him tomorrow more than I can imagine.

I love you Dustin.

We all have good days and bad days.  Yesterday was a good day, a very good one indeed.  We FINALLY got an offer on our house and after brief negotiations we have a contract.  YAY! We close December 4, eek!

Ok, so I’m not the best at writing things down in Amelia’s baby book, that’s what this blog is for.  I am also not great about giving her credit when she does something, ie: crawling.  I think I waited too long to say it was official.  I guess I need someone other than myself or Dustin to see/hear it to make it official.

So…Amelia is saying her first words.  She says mama, dada, cats (it’s really a k and a s sound screached…too cute) and she says hi…all the time!

This phase in Amelia’s life is so rewarding.  She’s starting to develop so, so quickly.  She’s grasping new concepts such as turning lights on and off, turning a cup upside down and it drips, throwing something and it’s no longer near her; basically the concept of cause and effect.  She’s also learning to share her toys with other kids and her food/drink with mommy and daddy (she’s had sharing with Lila down for months).

I’ve been a bit sad lately about Amelia growing up too quickly, about her becoming a toddler too fast for me.  Then I see or hear her do something new and amazing and I can’t wait for the next thing she’ll do.  I’m starting to grasp what my parents mean when they said “we were holding you one minute and the next you were getting married”.  Slow down time, slow down…

On a whim I decided to get the camera out and see if she would say hi…and she did!

This was the first time I actually got Amelia to wear a bow.  Ok, I lie she wore it for a while before she soaked it with saliva and it went into the diaper bag.

She looks so silly and she knows it.  I don’t know if she’s made for this bow stuff.
