I am going to go ahead and put it out there, I am one of those mommies that talks about poo and I’m not talking about the ‘Tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff.’ Read the rest of this entry »

So far this blog has been pretty tame and in my honest opinion a bit boring. I’ve been reserved with what I say for fear of offending. I guess I’ve realized lately that it doesn’t much matter, I might offend one person, but I might entertain someone else.

Amelia is entering a new phase in her life; one of exploration and curiosity and in all honestly there’s a lot more funny crap to write about. I don’t aim to embarrass her (ok, maybe just a bit), but I do aim to tell it as it is. I want her to see that she wasn’t always an angel, in fact she is a parental terrorist at times. I want her to be able to read these things when her kiddo is 4 months old, to know that they’re perfectly normal and that she’s getting exactly what she had coming.

I hope to never offend and often delight with snippets of our little life together.

Amelia slept for 12 straight hours last night, woo hoo!  She woke up and talked for a few minutes at 6:00, but I left her alone and she fell back to sleep after a few minutes.

I should feel like a new woman this morning after getting plenty of sleep, but not so much.  Being the neurotic mommy that I am, I got up a few times to check on her…to make sure she was still breathing.

I am praying that this is a trend that will stick around for good.

Amelia is 4 months (& 2 days) old! We’re simply amazed that it’s been that long already. Dustin freaked me out this morning and said “before we know it, she’ll be dating.” I freaked for a moment and then remembered that according to her Daddy she’s not allowed to date until she’s 28. I think I can quit panicking for a little while.

Here’s a little note for Amelia on her 4 month (& 2 day) birthday.

Mommy, daddy and Amelia all missed her first official rolls from back to tummy…because she did it in her sleep!

She did it at least 4 times last night while sleeping and woke up freaking out each time. I walked in to find her crying with her face smushed into the mattress and arms and legs flailing about. She had no idea what she had done and certainly didn’t know how to go about undoing it…just turn your head to the side and you’ll be much happier you silly girl!

Funny thing is that she’s been rolling from her tummy to her back for a while, but she doesn’t quite know how to combine the two movements.

Here’s how I found her this morning.

Amelia loves her Lila puppy. She reaches out for Lila and talks to her, anything to get her attention. It’s quite cute, but what isn’t cute is that Amelia just love, love, loves to be licked by Lila. I don’t mind if she gets her hand, foot, tummy, etc. licked, but it doesn’t stop there.

We found Bluebonnets, but unfortunately they were half dead, the sun was right overhead and the monkey was sleepy/crabby. These three things aren’t conducive to pretty pictures in the flowers, but we tried darn it!

Better luck next year, right?

Yes, I admit that I laid my daughter in the grass with the bugs and dirt, she even taste-tested a leaf or two. I ate bugs when I was a kid so I don’t think a little dirt’s gonna hurt.

We’re proud to announce the official launch of k|d loftis photography.

We’ve both had a passion for photography for many years and thankfully becoming a SAHM (stay at home mom) has enabled me to focus on the business side of that passion so that we’re both able to enjoy the creative side.

We’re currently building our portfolio so look out for many changes in the coming weeks and months. Please take a peek and let us know what you think!

You’ll likely notice a familiar face or two.

Enjoy!

Amelia’s become quite the manipulator lately. It’s amazing that a 4 month old can get exactly what they want when they want it. She sure has my number.

My dad told me a few weeks ago to watch Amelia closely, she’ll grow and learn so much in the next two months and he was so right! Read the rest of this entry »
