Amelia’s first and hopefully last Mohawk. Her hair is too long and a bit too curly to stand up, but it’s still cute.
We ventured downtown this morning to cash in our Astros gift certificates (thanks again Mom and Dad).
We’re all set for Opening and Closing Day festivities as well as a few games in between. They only had SRO (standing room only) tickets for opening day, but when the lady saw Amelia decked out in her Astros gear she said “awww…she’s so cute, let me look again” and sure enough she ‘found’ two pretty good seats for us.
45 more days until baseball season starts!
Go Astros!
It’s taken 6 weeks, but the day has finally come. I win! She took a bottle and she liked it.
They’re not great pictures, but it’s the best my one-handed skills had to offer this morning.
Amelia got her first hugs and big kisses from Lila last night. You know that email forward with the Mastiff cuddling the baby…we’ll Lila did just that. She wrapped her legs around Amelia’s torso and laid down (don’t worry she didn’t smush her, she was SO gentle). Here’s Lila’s little fairytale…
There once was a little baby girl laying all alone on a pretty blanket
Amelia is in a fabulous mood today so we did another mini photo shoot…ok, it wasn’t mini; we took 255 photos. Don’t worry, I didn’t torture her by dressing her in a bunny costume this time around.
I’m working to improve my photography skills and really paying attention to the camera settings, lighting, framing, etc. I am enjoying it so much and really hope to take it further in the near future…stay tuned for details!
Here are a few of my favorites…
We tried out the big jogging stroller today and took a nice long walk as a family (everyone except the kitties, though we’d look pretty cool with two cats on leashes). I think Lila is finally over her fear of the stroller now that she saw Amelia in it. Yay, no more crazy barking fits at an inanimate objects…well, except the vacuum and the Swiffer.
Amelia gives her big stroller one big thumbs up! (or maybe she’s saying Gig’em)
Just wanted to show off some new pictures of our little love bug.
She’s learning to reach and grab at her toys on the play mat and loves to look right at mommy for her daily photo session.
When Dustin and I were dating people would ask ‘when are you going to get engaged’ or ‘when are you getting married.’ Of course we finally answered their questions on March 10, 2002 and May 17, 2003 respectively. Read the rest of this entry »
I am sitting here with Amelia on my lap (she’s napping) and I am just so captivated by this little being.
She’s just over 6 weeks old now and it makes me think back to when she was just under 6 weeks gestation. We were really struggling at that time. We certainly didn’t think that I would be sitting here in February with a 6 week old baby in my arms.
When my bleeding initially began we thought we were losing the baby as I was newly pregnant and we knew I had a higher risk due to medical concerns. We both took a day off to compose ourselves and be together, to mourn the loss of our baby. How could we have known at that time that God had greater plans for us? We weren’t going to lose our baby. In fact God was going to give us the perfect baby; a resilient beautiful little girl.
A while back I wrote something about wondering when it would sink in; when someone would pinch me and I’d wake up from this dream. Thankfully I am still dreaming.
