Juliet is seriously, the most smiley baby ever. She just tickles me with her joyous smiles and coos.
As always please pardon the goofy mommy.

Just a little bit of fun time with my girls over the last few weeks, shopping, baking, wearing buckets on our heads and relaxing together. I love having two girls. Amelia loves her little sister and I think Juliet is becoming enthralled with her big sister. She smiles when Amelia is around and she stares at the “homage to Amelia” on the family room wall (ie: my photo wall). Life with two is sweeter than I could have imagined.
Juliet is a month already, how the heck did that happen? It seems like she was born just yesterday. She is a dream baby, seriously. I know I should bite my tongue, but she’s pretty darn awesome. I’m praying that she always stays as chill and sweet.
Amelia made me love being a mother, but having two little girls simply makes my heart soar. It’s funny, I probably paint this image that motherhood is all peaches & cream and let me tell you, it’s not. Last night after our “terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day” we capped off the evening by cluster feeding the baby which means almost non-stop nursing all evening. It’s a lot of work, but it helps my little one sleep like a log. Just as we were finishing up Juliet cleared the contents of her stomach…down my cleavage. Never in my life did I imagine that I would be pouring vomit out of my bra.
There you have it, there’s your nice not so peaches & cream view of motherhood. Was is gross? Yes. Did I have to immediately shower? Yes. Was it the end of the world? No, it’s not like I was wearing a Dolce&Gabanna gown or anything and well baby vomit is somehow infinitely less gross than grown-up vomit.
Juliet had an un-official weigh-in/height check to celebrate being a month…ie: mommy and daddy did it.
She’s 21.5″ now and a whopping 10lbs 3oz at 5 weeks and 4 days. She’s a CHUNK! Even my OB was shocked at how big she has gotten in less than 6 weeks. She’s gained almost 4lbs since coming home from the hospital. She love, love, loves to eat.
To celebrate being almost 6 weeks Juliet gave me a present, she has slept 5.5-6 hours straight the last two nights. I’m praying that it’s a trend that stays and continues to grow. There’s something about hitting 10lbs, both of my girls started sleeping well as soon as they hit it. It’s a magical number, I promise!
Here are a few pictures of Miss Juliet. Hanging with big sister…
Juliet’s cord fell off a few days ago so she finally got a real bath. She loved it! Big sister loved watching too.
Will you look at that belly! I keep saying that she’s a chunker and I mean it!
We took Juliet for her 2 week appointment on Thursday. Dr. Pope says she’s perfect!
Her stats were:
7lbs, 7oz (up 13oz from birth…she’s a good eater!)
14″ noggin
19.5″
You’re probably seeing the 19.5″ and thinking, wow, that was her length at birth. So, we think they were VERY generous at birth on her length. The nurse stretched her out well on Thursday and she is indeed 19.5″ so she was likely 18 or so inches when she was born.
Juliet appears to be our chunky baby, she LOVES to eat. We weighed her again this evening before we started our last nursing session and she’s weighing in at exactly 8 pounds! Yes, she put on 9oz in the last 3 days…I told you that she’s a chunk!
I have a feeling her pediatrician is going to tell us to cut down our nursing sessions at her 2 month appointment since she’s putting on so much weight so quickly. I love the chubbiness, she’s filling in all of her extra skin and then some. She’s squishy and smushy and I love it!
In other news, her cord fell off tonight! YAY! It took Amelia’s FOREVER to fall off and Juliet’s only took two weeks and 3 days. Tomorrow she’ll get her first full bath where she can soak and relax in the tub. We’ll post pictures of her first bath and if her hair cooperates hopefully I’ll get a mohawk going.
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
Yep, I’m going all cliche and quoting Romeo and Juliet…because I’m her mommy and I can!
We’ve been asked a zillion times how we came up with her names and well, I thought it would be nice to share.
I did a mini newborn session with Juliet on Thursday and wanted to share a few images from it. We’re hoping to do another at some point this week and include Amelia. Juliet was the EASIEST newborn I’ve ever photographed. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d say that about my own child, but it’s true. Let’s hope that she’s just as easy for round 2.
It’s so weird to say it, but we have girls…two of them! Dustin has always hoped to have two little girls and while I always hoped and prayed that I would be blessed with one, I have to admit that having two is like the greatest ice cream sundae with lots of whipped cream and cherries on top.
My girls have a sister and that is an awesome thing. Amelia just adores her little sister and I think Juliet already knows that Amelia is the best big sister in the world. We spent lots of time letting Amelia feel Juliet kick and wiggle in my belly and flurberting (blowing raspberries) my tummy to wake her up and I think that time together forged a bond that will grow and grow in time.
I am so thankful and so very happy. Here are a few pictures of our girls…
