When Dustin and I were dating people would ask ‘when are you going to get engaged’ or ‘when are you getting married.’ Of course we finally answered their questions on March 10, 2002 and May 17, 2003 respectively.
While we were engaged the question of kids came up many times and got more frequent after we were married. I think that’s a very personal question so I’d come up with snippy comebacks and let them rip once in a while (ex: we’ll have kids when we figure out how that happens, etc.). Of course I was always joking, but it did put me on the defensive once in a while.
Now that we have a beautiful little girl, there are two new frequently asked questions; ‘when are you having another baby’ and ‘how’s Dustin with the baby’. Well, I wanted to go ahead and address those two questions for everyone to read.
We hope to have another kiddo a couple of years down the road. We would like to enjoy this one for a while on her own before we add to the chaos. Our home is already a zoo; two cats, a very big puppy dog and a little baby. We want to savor all of her firsts and spoil her with all of our love and attention.
Now for the second question. Dustin is an amazing father; he’s more than I could have anticipated. He doesn’t hesitate to help with Amelia; change her, bathe her, rock her, play with her, etc. He works hard every day to provide a home and a comfortable life for us, but he also goes beyond to help me around the house. He’ll cook dinner (as long as I decide what we’re eating), he’ll vacuum, do the dishes, whatever I need him to help with he’ll jump right on it. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful father and husband to take care of us.
